A neighborhood cat snuck into our utility room last night while I was doing some laundry, crawled into the lawnmower bag and had kittens.

I am living in the future, blogging from my iPhone while laying in bed.

This is my view…

Over a month in and I’m definitely watching less tv, but not nearly as little as I had anticipated.

First problem: I watch a lot of network tv. I still have network tv.

Second problem: Some of the cable shows have just moved to DVD. Like Dexter.

Third problem: Public access channels show a lot of dancing children shows. AISD dance competitions. Tiny Vietnamese children in traditional costumes. I am a sucker for dancing children. The wife and I have watched parts of that AISD show four or five times.

I guess the main goal was to save money, but I’d hoped for a little more time as a fringe benefit.

The TV has not died, but it is incredibly diminished. We have gone from more channels than I could count including all the HBOs and all the Showtimes to Fox, ABC, CBS, CW (the CW?), NBC and PBS. More than that, we have given up the DVR.

The DVR promised to let me watch TV on my schedule. It was going to relegate the shows I like to my downtime, and never again would tv cut into my rich and full non-tv life.

In reality it allowed me to watch tv while recording something else that I would watch while recording something else. It is delicious and evil, and Wednesday I give it back.

…so that I can realize once again that I don’t have a rich, full, non-tv life. Maybe this time I’ll get one. If not the cable company will always give it back.

Amongst other things, the TV is about to die.

Political Spectrum Quiz

Not much changing on this one, except the masses insisted that I be recast as James Spader. I guess I have to agree with them, it is a better fit. Also, it turns out mom preferred my original choice for her, Goldie Hawn, to “that devil woman” Sharon Stone, so there you go.

I am now looking at recasting Ilse and Christina, and am leaning toward Hillary Swank and Emily Blunt. Christina thought she needed to be more attractive, and suggested people like Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel. I have one thing to say to that. I am James Spader.

There’s been a shakeup in the two leading roles, and a bunch of family has been added. Also, Travis and Becky. I’m looking to cast everyone I know, so keep sending suggestions. Though, as Travis is about to find out, they don’t always get used.

I’m casting the movie of my life, and this is who I have so far. There are a ton of people not included in this first version, if you are one of them, tell me who should play you.
